New Accord engine power

My '13 Honda accord has the V-6 which gives it the feel of the Dodge Charger of my youth. I am thinking of buying a new Accord, but am disappointed the V-6 is no longer available. I’m buying the top end model and want that same feeling of having the power I want. My question is : Does the larger 4 give that as much power? Or the increase in MPG’s worth it?

Reviews I’ve read suggested the Accord is fairly peppy, especially with the 2.0 liter engine, but your best bet is to drive one. The current car is unchanged from 2018, so you could rent one for a weekend. It will probably have the 1.5 liter engine so if that’s acceptable the 2.0 liter will be even better.

A recent comparison between the Accord 2.0t and a Camry V6 sowed that the Accord kept up with the Camry. It had a 5.7 sec 0 to 60 time. If you want an Accord V6, you could buy a 2017, the last year it was available. If you want more oomph after test driving the Accord 2.0t, consider a Civic Type R. The Accord 2.0t reviews all say it has plenty of power.

Have you looked at the Accord hybrid? Its electric motor should give it a lot of torque.
The new hybrid version of the CRV has the same power system and makes that vehicle zippier than its conventional version.

great thread! I am looking to buy an Accord! There are good deals out there

I had a 2015 Accord 4cyl which was a great car. Plenty peppy. Drove a 2020 as a rental last week. It had plenty of get up and go, but it also suffered from a significant amount of turbo lag which was frustrating. My daily driver is a Clarity PHEV which isn’t super fast, but the go is instant from the electric motor - so maybe I’ve changed my expectations, but it seems like there is more delay than the older naturally aspirated 4cyl. Haven’t driven the 2.0t

I’ve read some reviews of Hondas with the 1.5T engine that noted the turbo lag, so it’s not just you. Try out the 2.0T, it’s supposed to be quite a bit peppier.
