The first time this happened, I was driving in a residential area, about 35 mph. After I stopped at a red light, the car was “dead”. Luckily, my husband was behind me because I couldn’t start the car immediately. He was able to start it after pumping the accelerator. At my scheduled service at the dealer, they could not diagnose the problem. About 2 weeks later, the same thing happened. This time, I was able to re-start the car. I went straight back to the dealer and they kept it for 5 days and they weren’t able to reproduce the problem, nor were they again able to diagnose it. Now, it has happened at least 3 more times and I’m lucky that I haven’t been rear-ended. Any thoughts?
P.S. This is a 2007 SR Jaguar with only about 13,000miles.
The fuel pump relay may have a intermittent problem. To see if this is a fuel delivery issue you could carry some starter fluid with you and then spray a small amout into the intake when the trouble happens again. If the engine starts right up then there is most likely a problem with the fuel system. If not, I would check the ignition system next and see if that is working.
