My truck is a 1998 dodge dakota, 2 wheel drive, automatic trans., 3.9 liter 6cy engine.
Problem started out; engine would die @ stop lights, but would start right up with key.
Recently it has started stalling while driving, but restarts after a few seconds on it’s own.
A couple of times it has not started for 5-10 minutes. It has been driven from home to work then left to sit for 1-2 hours.
I have cleaned the Idle Air control. The two outer pins & two inner pins measure the same.
I sprayed Starting fluid into the carburator but it still would not start.
I conected a plug wire to an external spark plug & grounded it. I had no spark for many revolutins untill it started again.
I’m just an old shade-tree mechanic but I would suspect the coil.
