Must be getting senile, gas pump confusion

You beat me to it! I discovered this a few years ago! I think the bean counters/marketing types have noticed some of us have discovered this and are mixing it up. What I mean is, they either change which button is the “mute”. Or none of the 8 buttons are a mute.

So what I do now is push 2nd on the right. If that doesn’t work I push the others. If none of them work I swear into the speaker and pump my fuel!

If you do not like advertisements at the gas pumps, so you stop using those places to fill up and you find a new place to buy your gas, it’s clean, the gas in competitively price and while you are there, you use the restrooms only to discover the mirrors in the restrooms are spewing advertisements at you as you relieve yourself…

Many stations around here have the video screens and most play entertainment feeds from channels like Cheddar and Chive. Some entertainment while you wait rarely interspersed with short ads for soda or some other item in the store. Better than watching the numerics increment, especially if you’re paying what Rainflurry is paying per gallon :grinning:

The volume is usually much louder than it needs to be however. Not unlike a back up alarm that can be heard and felt even by the residents of the nearby marble orchard…

You get animal farm included in the same book so it’s a twofer. Some animals are more equal than others. The animals represent Stalin and others. I think the monitors are just masking the cameras though.

I suppose that’s one reason to go EV, no more ads blaring at you while you pump gas

I just finished a Florida vacation. Pumped a lot of gas. The secret “Mute” button doesn’t seem to work anymore.

I have to set up a video feed in my garage so I can watch it while I charge my Model 3.

The Sheets near me is very clearly marked yellow is flex 15-80/5%ethanol 1 grade (sorry don’t remember the top number) blue (I think )is up to 15% 1 grade, black is up to 10% 3 grades. Green is diesel. They don’t carry any non-ethanol fuel.
Pics courtesy of google. I won’t remember to take any.

Pic didn’t catch the diesel nozzle but it is green.

I filled up today. Three grade options. The third grade is non oxy. The nozzle was black. Diesel also had a black nozzle but on a separate pump and island like it should be. I hope they don’t buy new pumps.

Are you referring to Sheetz gas stations?
I hope you’re aware that their gas is not Top-Tier.

Over the past decade or so, more and more retail gas chains have added enough detergents to their gas so that they qualify for the Top Tier designation, and in my area the only brands that aren’t Top Tier are Gulf, Delta, and the no-name stations.

But, even if Gulf decides to become a Top Tier brand, I wouldn’t buy their gas because of their Venezuelan ownership.

I just used their pumps to illustrate the color coordination between the buttons and handles, and clear explanation, of each color. It would be hard to get the wrong stuff.

True for tourists too. Replace “food” for “fuel” for long-distance travel!
