Too bad nobody on the engineering teams knew about this issue. Not just GM using this pump in the US from the article.
May not be the pump per-say…but the combination of parts along with the pump.
I have a 2014 Chevy Van with the 6.6L Duramax in my fleet. 120,000 miles and the pump has failed twice on me. they do not like air bubble in them at all, and like the article said- when the pump goes it floods the system with metal particles, and the entire fuel system has to be cleaned out extremely well.
Luckily both of my failures happened under warranty, but the quote to repair these injector pump failures were around $9,000.
Hopefully this will lead to a longer warranty period for these.
