More new car bargains in the near future?

HB, something surprised me the other day,I was (just for curiositys sake) comparing the difference in length between a 302 Ford and a 250 Chevy six cylinder engine (there was very little difference in the length ,makes me wonder why the manus canned all the good inline engines ,when you didnt need all that displacement.
Have a friend who is restoring a nice old street rod,he is installing a nice 250 in it,He is planning on driving it a good bit, oops just happened to notice this thread is about 4 months old (still think its salient )

AFAIK . . . BMW is still using inline 6 engines

They actually produced working V6 engines for test purposes, but decided to abandon them, and they never went into regular production

Commercial trucks still use inline 6 diesel engines . . . it’s pretty much the standard

or reply to this email to respond. An inline is so easy to service, the
last common inline I remember was the 2.5 engine in a Suzuki Verona,as
for BMWs,thankfully I never developed a BMW habit,I tell you one
thingthe V type diesel engines are sometimes a nightmare in the heavy
trucks and earth movers ,I remember the old Cats and Macks ,no
thanks, make mine 3406 or inline E-series . That V8 CAT had in the
early 621s was rarher pointless and I never saw the point of a 3208 .

Kevin - I can’t follow your replies lately. Can you do it differently ?

@kmccune- I assume you mean Kevin’s strange looking posts. If so I second your request. I think it has something to do with receiving email notice about forum replies.

Kevin can count this as one more request to make his replies more readable.
At this point, when I see one of his
epic
posts, I just pass it by, rather than attempting to decipher it.

Yeah I didn’t want to say anything but I just can’t tell which is the comment being responded to and which is Kevin’s comment. I’ve tried but Its just too confusing.

Oooookay
I think I might see the message buried in there.

I wish to unsubscribe to Kevin’s incoherent replies but it doesn’t seem possible.

Thank you .

Oh BTW,you should see what my Email program looks like ,I used to have Outlook express and loved it ,now I am stuck with something that has so many bells and whistles, its almost unusable ,any suggestions on a good email program ?(or whatever you call it )

Perhaps the problem isn’t how many bells & whistles you HAVE, but how many bells & whistles you USE.

Kevin you might give thunderbird a try, maybe just responding to the post rather than the email notification?

Thank you that is part of the problem-as to the other suggestions I just want an email that I can reply to,send, put attachments on ,etc .It used to be real easy these new window OS thingys dont seem to be as one click friendly as the old XP ( Sort of like the Media player 10 ,I could do anything I desired with it ,with the new bells and whistles it confuses and annoys the hell out of me,Why is it not possible to buy a custom OS without all the BS and integrated spyware features ?I know I should spring for a higher end computer ,but for what I use one for ,its just not justified,my DSL is supposed to be 3MB,but in truth it seems no faster then a good 56k dailup,we have fiber 80 YDS away on the trunk line ,maybe the 2 pair copper wires running to the house is the problem. If it wasnt for bill paying and banking online (plus fire tv ) I would consider dropping the whole mess.
Plus Guys give me a little break ,I thought this site was a little laid back ,if it has to be a grammatically correct competition,I will probably vamoose .

But it was extremely hard to read your responses, much less figure out who they were addressed to

And the gray background didn’t make it any easier on my eyes, FWIW

Maybe a Chromebook and Gmail might suit you.

Kevin, are you trying to write these posts on your cellphone?

That is because each web page is downloading Megabytes of data. At 56k speeds most websites will timeout.

With more and more websites adding more and more advertising (like this site) you need a faster connection.
