Milky Headlight lenses

I have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra, which I really love. My big complaint is the headlight lenses (plastic) have begun to turn milky.

I tride taking paper towels and wiping theinside of the lens, but it did not help. Any idea on what I can do, short of replacing them, to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

You need to polish the outside of the lenses. You can buy a kit with everything you need, like this one:

Or you can gather the components ala carte. Either way, it’s important to spend enough time at each step to ensure good results.

The only permanent solution is to replace the lenses, but that’s expensive. A cheaper solution is to use toothpaste or Meguiar’s PlastX occaisionally on the outside of the lenses. This will clear the lenses up quite well, and needs to be done every 3-6 months or so, whenever the lenses become cloudy again.
