I have a 2000 Mazda Tribute, it has been a great auto and has 94,000. The catch is that the transmission has gone out and I have been quoted $2600-$3000 for a new one installed. A used one is only $300 less and comes with a 6 month warrenty. This all seems very high for a car that is currently worth approximately $7000 is good condition. Does anyone have any ideas?
With out a working transmission you car is worth a bout $7.00.
The choice is yours. A good used/rebuilt transmission (do you trust your mechanic to find a good one) is a good choice, IMO. However if someone called Transman shows up and says otherwise, listen to him.
