Anyone have an idea? My MPV has started to make a noise like a turbine, but not all the time. When the noise is present the heat gauge will climb from halfway between H and C to 3/4 of the way to H. The noise may be connected with turning on the lights…
That sounds like the radiator fan, which only comes on when the engine is getting hot and may stay on for a while after you turn the engine off. That would be normal and desirable.
Thanks for the reply! I just can’t figure out why the fan would come on for a few minutes during a typical drive around town (while the temp gauge goes up dramatically) and then shut off 5 or 10 minutes later (and the temp drop dramatically), when there has been no change in driving conditions, or outside temp, or anything else I can think of.
