I bought an older (1997) Mazda Miata and love it! There are no speakers in the headrest and I’ve been trying to find them but the guys at the audio install shop are trying to talk me out of them because they say they short out. They suggested that I would get better audio buy purchasing a new deck and door speakers. What do you think?

I had a 95 Miata that had headrest speakers built in. They were pretty worthless, too small and weak to help much. If you search your local recycling centers (junk yards) you might find the seats with the speakers in them, but in my mind it’s not worth the trouble. Look at www.miata.net for info about installing better quality speakers, and maybe about other options.
