Speaking of expensive cars…
Liberty mutual. Only pay for what you need.
That looks like more than a 35 mph crash . Also his claim that it was insured under a blanket policy is suspect . Suspended license due to clerical error ?
There’s red flags all over from this guy. Left his cell phone at home? Got a ride home to call the police? He blames the recent detailing for the accident? I suspect he wanted to get away from the scene because he had alcohol in his system. Ya can’t fix stupid.
Florida Man strikes again.
See, my problem is I’m too honest. “Oh, when I shifted from first to second, I kind of nailed it through the turn to get the ass end to step out a bit in a car that’s got way more power and is way lighter than I’m used to. My bad.”
If you’re gonna drive it like you stole it, maybe you should have.
I guess it could have been an honest mistake. I had an Acura owning co-worker years ago, came into the office one AM with bruises, bandaged nose, and a big black eye. Explained that leaving work the prior evening he got confused with some issue w/ the gear shift lever, didn’t pay att’n to the up-coming corner, and drove his car smack into a tree. I drove that same corner every day, manual transmission gear shift lever, never even came close to that tree … lol …
More like 15 to 25 you ask me. I have no affiliation with the automotive or oil industries, nor do I have any motive to promote a false sense of security in vehicles. There is no reason why I would be biased to say that the speed is higher than the evidence suggests.
I remember renting a bulldozer, DC7 or something. Hopped on it and let it warm up and started down the hill. Discovered dozers don’t have brakes. Put the blade down. Learning curve to everything.
If he truly didn’t know how to drive a manual then I put some of the blame on the dealership.
He bought the car at a Barrett Jackson Auction and probably had it shipped to his home.
Agree but buying from an auction is a whole different thing the one thing I did not get from the article was it a live or online auction.
Sorry I was typing my response when you posted but that is what I would have thought.
Well, the guy certainly stocked up on lame excuses for sure.
Many years ago a local here had his original Ford GT 40 crashed one night about 10 o’clock. The story was “murky” but the owner of the car (wealthy to the nth degree) was out of state and the car was said to be borrowed.,
The resulting crash had that GT going over a 1000 feet end over end and being mangled. The OHP did not issue any tickets “as the posted speed was 60 and the estimated speed was 35 MPH when it left the roadway”.
Right; no reason to suspect otherwise…
Car changed hands a few times and last I heard was in the U.K. where it was restored. This is it and no idea on the repair costs. Assumed to be well into 6 digits.
