Is it necessary to do a transmission flush on a vehicle versus draining the transmission when it’s time to service it?
asked and answered…rarely flush a transmission…according to many giving advice you drain and clean filter every 30-50K…Toyota uses special fluid that must be used…check manual or dealership.
When you drain, you only get about 50% of fluid out. Drain it, drive it, drain it again: now you’re about 75% fresh AT fluid. To change the ATF filter you probably have to drop the pan.
Transmission flushes with the right equipment and qualified technicians can be accomplished successfully. Transmission flushes with the wrong equipment and unqualified technicians can result in transmission failure. Follow the recommended transmission fluid drain, filter replacement and fluid refill in your owners manual. That’s the safest route.
