My wife’s 2003 Jeep (about 90,000 miles) has about 20-25 degrees free wheel in the steering wheel where nothing happens when you start to make a turn. She says she’s used to it. It scares the hell out of me.
Is this a dangerous situation?
Yes. We are, after all, talking about the steering system, which is sort of important from a safety standpoint.
I’d have it towed to a mechanic. Driving it is too dangerous.
Yes…just reading about it scares the heck out of me. I agree with mcparadise it’s too dangerous to drive.
If a third opinion is needed to convince you that the situation is already dangerous and will most certainly deteriorate please accept my vote to get that looked at immediately.
