I have a 1999 Ford Taurus wagon, the back Hatch lock is not working Properly, some times it will open and sometimes it will not.
The lock it operated by remote.
And all the keys for this car will not turn the lock.
And the only way to relock the hatch is from the inside.
This problem started last winter fist, I thought is was just frozen from the cold, but now that it’s spring and I still have the same problem.
The car was hit on the back passenger side door.
This was repaired, and I ask the body shop guy if the damage to the back passenger side door had any thing to do with the Hatch.
He said “no”
My question is do I need a look smith or should I take it to the dealer to fix this Problem?
It sounds like the mechanism may be sticking and perhaps just a shot of lubricant may fix the trouble. It could be other things also. Any good auto repair shop should be able to track down the trouble.
