I have a 2003 Buick Century and I am suspicious that the engine and or transmission is not original. Is the VIN stamped on the engine or transmission or both? And does anyone know exactly where? Thanks.
The VIN number is probably not stamped on either, but every engine block and transmission have their own unique ID number cast onto them.
Where they are located is tough to say. If you stop by a local library and look in a Haynes or Chilton’s manual (in the first few pages), it should say where to find the numbers.
I agree, the engine number is not the same as the VIN. However, the dealer should be able to verify if the current engine number was original (they can also tell you where to look for the number).
