The autopsy for Kyle Busch shows that he died from severe pneumonia and sepsis, undoubtedly brought on by the pneumonia. Surely a tragedy, and maybe a preventable one. If he had sought medical attention earlier, the pneumonia could have been cured before sepsis set in. Recovery isn’t always possible. One of my sons in law contracted pneumonia in his late teens. The doctor told his parents after recovery was secured that if that level of pneumonia had hit them, they would have died long ago.
I bring this up to remind you that medical problems can be a lot more severe than you think. It’s OK to look foolish at the ER if it turns out to be less severe than you think it could be. I imagine that Jim Henson died in a similar way. He ignored his pneumothorax until it was too late.
