Isuzu just dies

We have a 1986 Isuzu Trooper. Twice now I have been driving and it just dies. I pull over and try to restart but nothing happens. I wait a few minutes and it starts back up. I am worried that this will happen on the highway or icy road. Please help!

When you say nothing happens, I take it you mean it doesn’t even crank.

First step is to check your battery cables. If they’re loose enough, it could kill electrical power to your car and cause this.

When I turn the key the car does crank. But it makes no indication of sounding like it will start. After waiting about 4 minutes it starts up and runs fine.

I had a car with a clogged fuel filter that did this, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?. How about plugs, wires, air filter etc.
