Died while idling

My '95 Izusu Trooper died while idling this morning. It was cold and damp. Would not restart. Last time it died, it was raining. My mechanic replaced batt., everything tested OK. Still have the original alternator. Could it be old wiring? Or both?

When was the last time the secondary ignition components were serviced? This includes the distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, and coil. Any of these components can become succeptable to moisture as they age.

If you don’t know or can’t remember when the last time these components were replaced, it would be a good place to start.

You might be able to milk some more use out of those spark plug wire with a spraying with silicone spray.
