My 2014 versa note will not start when I push the start button The radio and dash lights will come on then when I try turn It off the radio stays on but the dash lights turn off then turn on by themselves. Any advice other than I should have bought a different car is welcome, it’s too late for that lol
If the dash lights slowly dim and go out when you attempt to crank the engine, that’sa likely indication of one of these problems
- battery is faulty or not fully charged
- faulty connection of wiring harness to one or both of the battery posts
Nope the lights function normally when I try to turn the car on they come on the engine doesn’t even try to start. Then when I try to turn it off the lights turn off but then they turn back on by them selves and
That is definitely an unusual symptom, computers seem confused. Probably will require a dealership diagnostic to figure out what’s causing it. Might still be a $$-wise good idea to ask your own inde shop to verify battery and alternator are working correctly as the first step.
Maybe you need a new battery for your key fob. Hold it up to the start button and then push the button. If it starts, the fob battery is weak. They aren’t that expensive anyway. Replace it and see if the car starts again.
My key fob does need a new battery but I already knew about that trick and have been using it before this problem came up. If it had be just the key fob nothing would have turned on in the first place.
I had the same problem with my Lexus IS. The battery in the key fob was low as well as the battery under the hood. When I replaced those the issue was solved.
Have you tried your other fob?
It is possible the car battery has just enough energy to light the dash lights but not to start the car.
start by fixing your known issue and go from there. obviously your dying fob battery is already causing issues, replace it and see if that helps.
