Maybe driver had never encountered a complex backing-up situation. Sometimes as a kid I’d come home from school to find my dad had decided to move the house trailer. Backing up problems cause it to be in all sorts of weird configurations, up against the house, on top of the rose-bed, etc. Mirror image seemed to cause confusion. He eventually decided it would be a good idea to put a trailer hitch on the front of his truck, just for backing up.
Motto management for motivation is mediocre.
