I have a 2001 Ford Taurus. It has recently begun stalling intermittently after shutting off the engine. After 15-20 min., it will usually start up again. But it is random. The dealer is suggesting a fuel pump, $700, but cannot guarantee this will fix it. A second garage has replaced the coil pack, but it did not fix the problem. I would like any advice/suggestions before I pay the $700 for the fuel pump. It’s been a wonderful car up until now. Thank you!

Could you try explaining that again. Stalling after turning off the engine does not make much sense.
Yes, normally you want the engine to stall when you shut it off.
Sorry…guess I was in a hurry. After shutting off the car and restarting, it will not start. It acts like it wants to start but will not turn over until I wait 15-20 min. Battery is fine.
Next time hold the pedal to the floor while you turn the key and then ease up slowly as it fires up (if it does). Try that and see what happens.
