Intermittant cruise control

On my 1994 Acura Integra most of the time, but not always, I can’t activate the cruise control, unless I repeatedly and rapidly press the set button or even the resume button on the steering wheel 20 or 30 times or even more until it finally works. (the on-dash button is activated, of course.) Sometimes even that fails until a long period of time has elapsed. Seems to be worse in hot weather, but I can’t confirm that for sure. Took it to a good Acura dealer twice, but they couldn’t fix it.

“Took it to a good Acura dealer twice, but they couldn’t fix it.”

They could not reproduce the problem or had no idea how to fix the problem? If the latter, I suggest you find a good independent Honda/Acura specialist and stop going to your “good” Acura dealer. This should be a relatively easy problem to diagnose and repair.

Twotone

Buy a spray-can of “electrical contact cleaner” and spray the steering wheel buttons…
