I have a 2002 Honda Accord (V6) with 123,000 miles with the “Check Engine” light constantly on. I have an OBDII reader, and the car continually is continually throwing the code P1404 (Insufficient EGR Flow).
Without success, I have tried the following things to get the P1404 to clear:
- replacing the EGR valve with a new one from Autozone, and cleaned the intake and outtake ports of the valve. After putting the new EGR valve on, reseting the code with the scan tool, this operation did not make the code go away.
- removing the EGR valve and the intake manifold of the top of the engine, and blowing compressed air from the EGR input at the intake manifold to the EGR output at the EGR valve hole. Doing this caused a lot of carbon buildup to be blown out. However, even after putting everything back together, this operation also did not make the code go away, even after clearing the code with a P1404 with a scan tool.
I’m out of ideas. Any suggestions on what else to try to get the P1404 code to finally clear? I could really use some help here.
