I have a 2000 Infiniti G20t and when it is really cold outside and I have to scrape ice off the car, my remote to unlock the doors does not work. After the car has been running for a while, the remote works like a charm. I can use the key to unlock the doors but using the remote is nice. Is this something I should have looked at or is it not a big deal??
Maybe the remote needs a new battery. I can’t explain why the temperature (or the ice) would prevent the remote from unlocking the doors, unless the lock mechanism is frozen, too, but that’s a stretch.
The trouble could be due to a mechanical problem as Mcparadise stated. There may also be connection problem in the wiring that the cold is effecting. One other thing could be the receiver in the car has a problem during the extreme cold.
