My wife is not a car person. That being said, she loves her “Girl SUV” 2001 Subaru Forester. I was being a wonderful, loving husband tonight and cleaning it out before the winter comes, and accidentally broke the spring-loaded mechanisim that pops the cupholder arm into place. Not a huge deal, but this year I’ve backed it into a telephone pole (not very hard, but read on) and dropped a piece of 3/4" plywood into the edge of the windshield. Anyone know how I can get this thing out? I unscrewed the two screws I saw in there, but it didn’t seem to budge, and I wasn’t in the mood to break anything else at that point…
Also, does anyone have any good suggestions on how to get the little bar that holds the directional panels in the vents back on if it has slipped off? I noticed that whilst cleaning her car, too.
Thanks!
Scott
Here is a link for removing the radio that may help you out. Click on it and check it out. A Subaru Forester is a great choice for her to drive. I drive an Outback myself.

No offense meant here, but considering your story you might want to just not touch her car at all if possible.
Here’s a pretty handy site that I’ve consulted for things like this:
