If you're stumped for a last-minute gift

I’ll just quietly mention that that is a good way to ruin your hearing in your left ear. Lots of truck drivers have that problem or at least had before the luxury coaches

We’ve got dual controls but the wife still reaches over and controls my side too. Something about tv remotes and thermostats. Nature or nurture?

Yup!
Also–driving with the window open must be truly enjoyable on a rainy day.
:smirk:

Not to mention very reduced MPG due to air turbulence…Ever have pebble come flying at you on the road?..I have, was glad to pay for replacement window or windshield, rather than eye surgery, that may or may not have worked!

The AC comes in Auto on to deal with the moisture, quickest way to regain visibility. AND… I do not want to spend more than 3 seconds w/eyes off the road to play with controls, esp. if the weather is iffy

Safety first.

HaHa funny!
I have terrible luck with those sort of things, they always seem to get broken at some point…
:grinning:

I was sorely tempted to “accidentally” damage David, but because I didn’t want to insult my well-meaning friend, I endured it for several years.

My disposal of David–right after that friend’s death–coincided with my move from one apartment to another, and it gave me the opportunity to “get back” at an annoying neighbor who used to (among other things) go through my trash can at night looking for… God only knows what. I left David at the top of the other stuff in the trash can–looking up–and then put the lid back in place. I can only imagine how my neighbor–Garbage Gertie–reacted when she confronted that monstrosity looking back at her.

I guess the Weathertech shields causes turbulence even with the window closed. How much rain comes in depends on car speed wind and direction. I deal with that. Hearing? yeah maybe I need a earbud would help me hear the radio better. Mmm Is that legal? IIRC head phones were illegal.

In VA you can use a headset as long as it has only 1 earpiece. I don’t know if that’s been changed with the growing popularity of earbuds. They say it is so you can hear emergency vehicles and such, yet deaf people are good to go, driving no problem. Puzzling if nothing else.

And some have car stereos playing so loud an ambulance siren going full blast right behind them would be unnoticed.

Same with motorcycles, they have high power audio systems so they can hear music over the roar of their open exhaust pipes!

She probably thanked her lucky stars at such a find and took it home immediately.

Heh heh. Like I said I bought a wheel chair for when the wife broke her leg, then didn’t know what to do with it. When I junked the olds, I just put it in the trunk. Extra value. They never called me.

Maybe you could have donated it to a local hospital or charity so that someone else could have used it. I’m not picking on you @bing, more offering a suggestion to someone else faced with the same situation.

When my Mom passed away about 10 years ago that’s what we did. A wheelchair and at least 3 walkers. Donated them to Goodwill. The person at Goodwill said they’d probably stay in the store 1-2 days at the most. Those wheelchairs aren’t cheap either.

No I could not give it to anyone. I bought it from a guy that had it in his basement and had a mildew smell to it. Tried everything to get rid of it in the pads. It wasn’t terrible for use once in a while but you could smell it. Just took up room in the garage, and finally stored it in the trunk of the never used olds.
