IMO a better solution would be for the affected owners to get PI breach monitoring free for a few years. Lawyers can’t make money that way though.
That might conceivably be part of the settlement, in addition to a cash payment. My recent settlement for the T-Mobile data breach of a few years ago is for $200 cash, plus 5 years of free monitoring of both my credit file and my home’s title. I’m quite confident that the attorneys who negotiated that deal made millions of dollars.
