please some help identifying this acura thanks

Looks like a customized 1996-2000 Honda Civic with an Acura badge glued on. Either that or it is an Acura intended for a country other than the USA. Either way it is a pretty great looking car–much better that what Acura is churning out today with the chisel face look.
I have seen this pretty often. My former neighbor has a Corolla that he glued on Lexus badges as a joke. At least I interpreted it as a joke.
Yup!
That surely looks like a Honda Civic to me.
As was said, this could have been sold in another country as an Acura.
After all, what we consider to be Lexus models and Infiniti models are sold as Toyotas and Nissans in Japan, so Honda could be doing similar “badge engineering” for various countries.
Speaking of Canadian rebadging, when I was in Canada, back around…1981 or so…I recall seeing a car brand that seemed unique to Canada.
If I recall correctly, the brand was Passport, and it represented an odd assortment of imported models that GM was selling under one brand name. No, I am not thinking of Honda’s rebadged Isuzu Rodeos. This was a line of…maybe 3 different small car models, probably of Japanese manufacture. In essence, it was like GM’s Geo brand, which included two different manufacturer’s models (Toyota and Suzuki).
When I returned to Canada several years later, there seemed to be no trace of this effort by GM.
Do any of our Canadian friends have any recollection of this GM venture?
Is my recollection of the brand name, Passport, correct, or am I mis-remembering it?
And, what disparate models did GM bring together under this one brand name?
GM had a joint venture with Suzuki and they built a plant in Ingersoll, Ontario to assemble Suzuki cars. The partnesship is now dissolved and the plant builds other GM vehicles.
When GM bought the assets of bankrupt Daewoo, they had access to a full range of small cars, but the quality left much to be desired compared to the Suzuki clones.
They also imported some Isuzu cars, and I believe they rebadged all these as Passports. Most people stayed away from those, if they wanted an import they preferred to buy it from an import dealer.
GM dealers were often at a loss as to how to service these cars.
So that was GM’s problem - a bad case of ADD!
or ADHD if you look at how many different brands they’ve had using the same body style. Pontiac, Oldsmobile, GMC, Chevy, Cadillac, Buick, and I’m pretty sure they’ve had more, but those are the brands I remember
Apparently, the Suzuki Forenza and Verona sold in the USA are manufactured by GM Daewoo. I agree that the Aveo is awful, and had no trouble buying a Cobalt in 2009 instead. My daughter allowed me to ride with her the other day. The Cobalt is still a nice ride.
