It just kind of came out of nowhere. I heard it and it’s annoying. I checked the oil of course. I also thing it could be the kind of gas I was using. I read several things on the issue like bad spark plug, bad coil pack and incorrect oil filter. Also the valve adjustment.
Honda engines I know are older, and have solid valve lifters that are adjustable. What does your owners manual say? Honda used to say adjust valves if they are noisy.
On my 1999 Civic I have adjusted them every few years, when I put in new plugs. Each time several have drifted out of spec. Close to 180,000 miles and going strong.
I had a 2005 Accord V6 and when I had the timing belt replaced, the dealership also adjusted the lifters. Noisy before, quiet after. If you never ad the lifters adjusted, now is a good time. When was the timing belt replaced?
