Honda CRV Brakes

I put new pads on my car and it seems that the front pads create a residue after serval starts nd stops. This causes a grinding noise. After cleaning all is ok, then after a while the grinding noise comes back and goes away after cleaning. Do I have defective pads?

Well the first thing I would ask is, did you properly seat the pads to the rotors after they were installed?

what do you consider the proper way to seat the pads?

After the new pads are installed, the vehicle is driven to a speed of 35-40 MPH. The brakes are then firmly applied to whoa the vehicle down. This is repeated a half dozen times leaving over a minute between braking events to allow the brakes to cool down.

Did you do that?
