Hello all. I need help. I have a 96 mustang GT. I thought the fuel pump went out so I changed it though I could still hear it. Now after dropping the tank 3 times to solve this problem. Anyways the pump turns on but doesn’t send gas. I’ve changed the CCRM. It will send gas when hooked directly to a battery. But not when keys turned on.
There may be a problem with the crankshaft position sensor.
When the ignition switch is turned on, the computer will run the fuel pump for a second or two to prime the fuel system and then shut the fuel pump off.
Then when the ignition switch is turned to the start position, the computer must see crankshaft rotation from the crank sensor.
Otherwise. the fuel pump won’t run and the engine doesn’t start.
