I just changed all 4 sets of pads on my 98 Chrysler Concorde because they were squeaking and grinding. I couldn’t tell that there was any scoring on the discs and the old pads seemed to have plenty of meat on them. Are they layering something that makes a sound like your rotors are about to sieze so that you get scared into buying new pads before necessary?
No layering…In wet weather, rotors can rust quickly and rumble for the first stop or two. If that’s not the situation, better have a pro take a look at your brakes…
