GM Factory Installed XM Radio

I bought a used 2006 Yukon with a factory installed XM radio with a six disk CD player in the dashboard. For three months we have been trying to figure out why the radio can get the free XM channels, but not the subscription channels I paid for. Now the dealership thinks the problem is a part called the DRR. They had to take the radio apart, look at the part number, put it back and order the new part. My questions: Is this type of failure rare or common with factory installed XM radios?

Is the DRR the offending part?

Am I better off installing a digital radio and chucking the XM radio feature?

Thanks in advance.

I assume that whatever is being done to correct the trouble is covered by the new car warranty still so it should be no out-of-pocket money for you.

Yes. I bought a satellite radio when I was a truck driver. Now I am going to replace it with an iPod. Customer service from Sirius, who will soon also own XM, has been poor.
