$1.83 per liter in ontario tonight, 10 cents per liter since yesterday.
On another site, it was reported that the Arco station in LA posted $9.00.9. It was unconfirmed but the professor said he had the information on good authority plus a picture. One more week and maybe a dollar and they will have to add a paper “1” when they get to ten dollars. Just like the old days when all the pumps had to be upgraded to go over 99 cents. I don’t know about the software involved. Maybe have to have two transactions.
Additionally, mutual funds such as Vanguard Energy are now heavily-invested in renewable technologies–in addition to their traditional holdings in “big oil”.
In my area, the electric utility (PSEG) erected a solar panel on virtually all of their utility poles several years ago. When I drive past big industrial campuses–such as the Johnson & Johnson facilities–I am astounded by the vast sea of solar panels covering former lawn areas.
And, there are already several offshore wind farms in this area, and leases were recently sold by the feds for many more of these installations:
Absolutely NOT. It was speculative buying and the banks greed with a product they created called Mortgage Bundling.
Maybe where you live. But definitely not around here. Solar and wind farms are from PRIVATE investment companies. They build them and then sell the power to the utility companies.

I just came back from filling-up my tank at Costco, and I was surprised to see that the price for regular is only $3.89.
With media reports of $6+ prices in some areas, I thought that I would be paying much more than I did.
And, I thought it was interesting that their price for premium gas is currently just 10 cents more than their price for regular. Not very long ago, I recall that premium was running 17-20 cents more per gallon than regular.
It was $3.50 something here last week. Haven’t filled up this week, but I suppose it shall be what it shall be. I’ve ridden a bicycle 30 miles before, but not 5 days a week!
Went to town yesterday. The station halfway in is at 3.98; up roughly 60 cents in a few days time.
At this rate people are going to start heisting drip gas from oil leases.
Just paid $4 per gallon this evening, 3/8/22, at a QT in south St. Louis County, MO.
Technically, $3.99.9 which in my mind is $4.
$4.25 in Traverse City, MI
Did you ever notice that it seems when the barrel of oil price goes up the gas price goes up that day or the next. but when the barrel of oil price drops it takes about 2 weeks for the gas price to come down.
$4.26 - $4.29 today on Long Island
Weird how that works, The same as when a hurricane is predicted.
Yeah I know but I remember the days with “no gas” signs or even odd purchases according to your license plate. I don’t like the prices but I sure as heck like it better than no gas. The retailers are not the cause of this fiasco.
Gas Buddy in my area lists Sams, usually the best price around and the long lines support that.

Can we stop talking about gas prices? This whole discussion sounds like a bunch of cranky old people lamenting about how things used to be better in the olden days. Firstly, I am betting that everyone posting here can afford the short term pain of these artificially high prices. Secondly, people are DYING in Ukraine because of Russian aggression. Would you rather we saw Ukraine fall quickly, democracy die again in a European country, and have the Ukrainian peoples enslaved to the Russians so you can have cheap gas? I don’t think so.
John- it’s good for your health and endurance. Pretty soon we’ll be calling you “Marathon-John”
The name of the post is “gasoline prices”. So we’re talking about gas prices.
This gas crisis isn’t hitting our family (or many other families) as hard as it did last time prices were this high. I drive about half as much as I use to because I work at home most of the time. Same with wife.
I have certainly been called worse. Probably by some on here…
