Pivoting to car insurance and regarding deductibles, this reminds me of how it took my Big Name car insurance about four years to wrangle money out of the Bare Bones Cheapo insurance company of the driver who hit me head-on back in December 2016.
By filing my claim for car repair and medical costs through my car insurance I was able to immediately get the repairs done to my satisfaction at a quality body shop in a timely manner and to get all my accident related medical costs, including some months of physical therapy, covered without a hassle.
It took my insurance years to recoup my deductible and their money. So, yes, it took years before I was reimbursed for my deductible but just think of the nightmare I’d have had if I had tried getting satisfaction out of the other insurance company on my own! My insurance company has knowledge, legal staff, and deep pockets I lack. My premiums pay for all that.
