Ford Recalls 870,000 F150 Trucks, Electric Parking Brake Problem

ooops!

Back around 2013, Subaru had the opposite problem with their electronic parking brake mechanism, namely that it could fail to release. As a result, Subaru issued a lifetime warranty, with no mileage limit, on that mechanism. Mine worked w/o problems of any kind for the 11 years that I owned my Outback, but it was comforting to know that I wouldn’t have to pay for repairs if it failed.

In addition to the recall, it would be a good public relations gesture if Ford gave the owners of the affected vehicles a lifetime warranty on that mechanism.

The good news is that they seem to know how the failure occurs and can reduce the possibility of harness shorting.
