My 2005 Ford focus Left (Driver), rear door wont lock. I cannot even lock it manually. A mechanic wants $80 to remove the door panel and check what is wrong. He thinks the actuator motor must have gone bad. The mechanic says he must get the motor for $110 from the local Ford Dealer. Am I being fleeced? Any suggestions or advice?
The solenoid ( actuator ) which, in the old days was a seperate part, is now integrated with the latch…Ford # 6S4Z-5426413-D @ $ 107.17 list. If you know someone at yor Ford dealer maybe they’ll cut you a discount but you’re not being fleeced, mechanics don’t go to the grocery store with a hand-shake and a pat on the back.
