Failure signs

I think my Accessory Belt Tension Pulley are now acting strange. Is there any signs for me to know that my tension pulley is not working?

Can you please elaborate on “acting strange?” What are you seeing/hearing?

Do you hear any high-pitched noises shortly after a cold start?
Do you observe that the pulley is not operating smoothly?

Those are the signs that I would look for/listen for.

yes, that was exactly what i have heard. I am thinking now that the problem was the the Accessory Belt Tension Pulley but im not that sure since i have just encountered that strange noise yesterday.

What year is your MDX, and how many miles does it have on its odometer?

Has the accessory drive belt ever been replaced?

it was 2011. Just bought it last 2weeks ago from a dealer. No the driver belt was never been replace. This was my first time to encounter such problem.

Highly unlikely that the tensioner is bad on a new Acura. Not impossible, but unlikely.

What’s the weather like where you are?

Rain? Any snow? Use of road salt or anti-freeze chemicals?

Has the noise recurred, or was it a one-time thing?

i am currently here at chicago. do you think that the weather is a big factor for this one?

“it was 2011”

Did the model year change since you bought it?
Isn’t it still a 2011 Acura MDX?

;-))

Any type of malfunction or breakdown will be covered in full by the multiple warranties on the car.
If you have any doubts about the belt tensioner bearings or any other components, you need to take the car back to the dealership.

Just describe the symptoms that you have observed. Don’t give them your/our diagnosis.

sorry for saying 2011… the year was 2004. My mistake. …
