I wonder how much an early 1990’s 911 in its basic configuration, hard top, reliable/drivable condition, but maybe some cosmetic problems, would cost?
There’s one at Hemmings. The asking price is $69,900 with over 134,000 miles on it. Better move fast. Most of the other early 1990s 911s there are well over $100,000.
I’d be surprised if there weren’t some 30 year old 911’s in the under $20K price range out there. But maybe it is just my inherent optimism … lol .
Sure, if you want a bucket of junk. Cheapest older 911 is $45,000 on cars.com. You can get a 2000-era 911 for around $25,000-$30,000. Those were the first water-cooled ones, with the IMS problems. But ones still on the road are probably OK.
Many of those early water cooled have had a IMS retrofit to an improved design, The owner I know bought his with the upgrade already done and has enjoyed the car for about a decade without issues. Serviced faithfully by the local german specialist though.
What’s that saying we have around here?
“There’s nothing more expensive than a cheap European car”?
