Egv sensor burning out on a v6 98 ford tauras

I can’t work out why. The valve destroys itself as soon as you start the car.

It goes up in a smoldering mess.

Are you talking about the DPFE sensor for the EGR valve?

If you are talking about the EVR or EGR valve the info I saw showed the solenoid in series with the #4 injector coil. Both sides of the coil went back to the PCM. One side of the coil may have a ground fault that could cause this trouble.
