How much it will cost to fix this deep dent on the right passenger door
You did not tell us what this vehicle is other than VW. Your location is unknown . If your insurance is not involved then go to your local body shop ( now called Collision Centers ) and ask for an estimate . Any guess from a forum could be so far off as to be worthless.

Impossible to say anymore with the material cost and paint blending. $1000, $2000, just go down and get a free estimate from a quality body shop.

Repaint door and fender, two pieces of trim; $2300, plus or minus $1000.
“Out-of-pocket” doesn’t sound so good anymore.
BTW, he didn’t really want to know the year and model of your vehicle.

The tread depth of your tire appears to be quite low. Have you checked it to see if it needs to be replaced?

One must calculate the cost, including forgone interest, of paying for insurance. I purchased my own medical insurance for 20 years, bought the high-deductible, winced at the occasional bill, but calculated that I was better-off financially.
How good a job can one do oneself? Harbor Freight sells tools: https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=auto%20body%20repair%20tools I’ve done all my own - it looks terrible - but it’s solid and can’t make much difference on an '87.
