Hey everyone, I just put on new upper control arms on my 21 Silverado 1500. The clearance from the UPC and tire is about an eighth of an inch. I have stock rim and tires.
Do you recommend I put spacers on? I’d prefer not too but if I have to I will. Thanks!
No, don’t use spacers unless the fancy upper control arms say to.
Why did you buy the fancy red one? What improvemnents do they advertise?
Are they Original Equipment spec?
Perhaps that 1/8" is the amount of wear on the lowers!
I have a 2inch level - just a spacer puck on top of my struts. Anyways i saw some other forums about the stock ball joint failing due to this same level - it throws the geometry angle off. Didnt want to take the risk. And red cause its BA man!
Rough Country claims I dont need spacers as theyll fit with stock tires and stock rims. Possible the lowers are a bit worn, would an alignment fix this? I believe the gap of the stock UCA and tires was around a 1/2 inch
The 2 inch lift.. THAT is what screws the geometry up. The fancy control arms rotate the ball joint so it won’t break. That won’t help the lower ball joint or the cv axles at all.

Yeah I wasn’t talking about the lower ball joint mustang man, I was talking about the ball joint on the stock upper control arms… THAT angle is now messed up due to the level
The red enhances the performance of the LED light bars, and the capacity of the rooftop cargo racks.
I think I read that somewhere online.

Yeah, I know. You want the lift, you must live with the consequences of poor geometry that affects everything. If you think the control arm is too close to the tire, it isn’t. Ball joints don’t (or shouldn’t) flex. So back to my original answer to your question;

Your question is about (wheel?) spacers or not… Drive it around a little trying to put as much suspension travel on it as you can, check for rub marks on the tires, if no marks, drive it to the alignment shop and have it aligned, then drive around again and check for rubbing marks, if none, then keep an eye on it and go for it…
Remember, it is better to pay once cry once.. Do it right the 1st time…
BTW Rough Country makes a heck of a bed mat, I love mine… lol
