Did Honda make a mistake

… when they decided to market their new $90k EV sedan?

While it’s likely to have better reliability than the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S sedans with which it will compete, the Honda-Sony EV has significantly less battery range than those other two.

First thought is… Honda and Sony both know a lot of customer tastes and interests, and I’d expect them to tailor their products accordingly. So surely they have at least some buyers in mind for this.

Having said that… recently I got a 2022 Chevy Bolt for well under $20K. It has around 250 miles of battery range, admittedly without all the “luxury” and gizmos. So 300 miles on a $90K car does seem…curious.

But the Afeela’s 300 miles is kind of the current ‘bar’ EVs need to meet, so I’m not too concerned about that. I’m more concerned about the name…

I think that the focus group that came up with that very strange (and suggestive??) name must have been composed of 14 year old boys.

Certainly the goofiest name ever. SMDH. Some defend it (Don't Judge Sony and Honda's Afeela EV by Its Goofy Name - InsideHook). I’m not buying in (literally and figuratively).

If I was around for the name search, and someone really want to stick by it, I’d suggest adding a couple of Y’s. “AYfeelYa”. So for those who think it’s goofy. AYFEELYA.

IMO they should sell it as an Acura at that price, unless they plan a new BEV division.

Those are also my thoughts–exactly.
