It came with the life time air filter. But the gauge is missing to determine if its time to replace.
Iād get rid of that K&N filter kit and install this in its place.
Then youāll be good for another 100,000 miles. If the car lasts that long.

There is no K&N filter.

I dont have any aftermarket filter installed
If there were a air filter pressure drop gauge, it would be mounted on the filter housing and look something like this.
Yours didnāt come with one.

Since that pressure gauge is missing, maybe and hopefully one of the previous owners did an upgrade like on this video. It seems that the top box is not where the filter goes, it has another box on the bottom attached to it. As seen in the video. Ill take a look today.
Why do you think you need to replace it now? Is it running OK? Some folks have had no problems for 200,000+ miles on theirs, it just depends how much dirt it has collected, which varies widely.
Because I live in the dessert, lots of dust and dust storms in the summer. No gauge to let me know whats going on so i want my engine to last. Just recently got this car and need it. After discovering a couple things idk if i can get my money back. So might as well prevent it for having major mechanical issues.
Thatās filter/housing is for a 2005-2007 Focus.
Yours is a 2009 with PZEV emissions.

Before making any changes to the carās configuration, suggest to ask CARB if thatās allowed. You donāt want to find out later the state (presumably Calif) wonāt allow you to renew the registration.
Knucklehead diyāer opinion, no 2009 Focus experience, Calif resident.
Here in AZ is ok
It is way past time to stop posting that ridiculous statement that does not help at all .
Hey sorry to bother but did you check and see if your focus came with that gauge? I read previous ford focus manuals, 07 and 08, and the gauge its mentioned, but on my 09 its not. So I wonder if they didnt include that feature in the 09 and current models.
@Georgefocus2
There seems to a lot written on this over at
My 2011 MKZ hybrid does not have the gauge, the owners manual says the check engine light will go on indicating a problem, to take it to the dealer at that point. So if I had your car Iād drive it until the light comes on.
My owners manual doesnāt say anything about the light. I guess ill just leave it like that. I dont want to mess around with the codes of this PVEZ system.
Think about it this way, if the vehicle is running OK, the air filter is fineā¦
Kind of ironic that a part thatās supposed to only be needed 10-15 years after the car is made isnāt available. Kind of makes the life of the car equal to the life of the filter.
I suspect there is little demand for PZEV original equipment replacement air cleaners, therefore the part was canceled.
Rock Auto lists 2 suppliers offering new air cleaner housings (out of stock) that fit the Focus without PZEV engine. It probably works as a good substitute for the PZEV filter but is an emission modification that canāt be suggested by the retailer.
