Defining wires on insturment cluster

As has been stated many times on here,
What you are trying to accomplish is not done by moving wires. It’s done by programming the PCM to recognize and communicate with the temp gauge. It’s similar to having a device with an IP address on a managed network. Even though that device is capable of communicating on the network it is blocked by the firewall because the network was not programmed to accept it.
In order to add that to the PCM you will have to find someone or a dealer or buy a quality programmer to download the program and add the parameter before reuploading. Welcome to the world of drive by wire. Things aren’t what they used to be. It’s doable but you need to stop thinking about it mechanically and start thinking about it digitally. In 2011 there was enough research showing that it was completely possible to hack a car and take over the controls in real time by simply pretending to be a controlled part that didn’t exist. Because of that research there was regulation introduced that closes the network to a managed system that only speaks to actual installed components. This is why a programmer is needed. The parameter for the temperature sensor will have to be changed to a gauge. Here’s the kicker. If they did not offer a temp gauge in any 2007 equipment package then you may find the base program (operating system) won’t accept a gauge because it sees it as a foreign device. That’s unlikely but possible.
