It is always a sad day when we loose someone in the racing world no matter if they are a local or of national fame…
Racing in general is a very dangerous, including drag racing, we also lost Nathan Schaldach, better known as Cali Nate earlier this year in a street (closed off) drag race back in April…
This would have been better placed in a 3 day old topic though…
BTW, for those that see street racing and think of Fast and Furious fake stuff, these 1/8 mile (660’) street race events are on closed off roads with look outs at both ends and also up to a mile away to make sure no innocent people are involved and or to alert if the LEOs show up, with 5-30+ race cars same of these races draw 64 vehicles and can have 20K to 250K winner take all pots, more cars = more money…
Most of the cars involved are capable of 150+mph in the 1/8 mile, that is why you see the parachutes, they also have, depending on how fast, full roll cages, the drivers wear fire suits etc etc… Yes it was one of these that Cali Nate died in, and yes they can be very dangerous… These are true no prep racers…
They are always way out in BFE somewhere so as not to bother people in their homes or businesses …
Here is a random street race video of 7 cars…
