Hi, I’ve got a 2008 Toyota Yaris with check engine light and after running diagnostics and troubleshooting the mechanic is telling me they need to replace the leak detection pump and they are quoting me $1300 to do that. Seems like a lot of money and haven’t taken anywhere for 2nd opinion yet, just wondering if anyone has experience with this and what a reasonable charge for it should be? Thanks in advance.
I assume you’re getting a constant check engine light with codes P0442 and/or P0456, but no drivability problems, fuel odor, or any other problems? Do you live in a state which requires emissions testing, or could you simply ignore this “problem” and save your money?
Error codes are P2401, P043E, P043F, P2402, P2419 and yes the state does require emissions testing. There are no driveability problems, fuel odor or any other problems.
Thanks for the response.
