Is there much of a difference between conventional motor oil and “high Mileage” conventional oil? If I buy the “high mileage” type, will I be paying extra for something that’s not really worth extra?
High mileage oils contain additives to swell seals on older (high mileage) engines that are leaking oil. If you’re not leaking, no need to use it. If you are leaking, better to fix the leak.

The high mileage oils have higher detergent content and conditioners for worn seals.
This can be beneficial if the vehicle has high mileage, and it’s cost prohibitive to replace worn seals that leak.
i use high mileage oil in my 1997 Accord with 212,000 miles.
