Contact your car insurer and ask that question. No one knows their policy exclusions better than them.
You are considering two small vehicles that appear to be smaller than your Outlander, shouldnât you see if you fit comfortably in the driverâs seat before worrying about the cost of the next two oil changes?
You seem to be replacing your vehicles every 18 months, there wonât be much maintenance involved.
Yes the switching out of my kicks was a bad move. An impulse buy and thinking a bigger car would be better. I fit well in the Kicks and should have stayed with it
Why not get another one?
None in my area fits my budget unfortunately
It seems your priority shouldnât be maintenance, but comfort and ability to store the scooter
I would take the scooter along, when you go car shopping
If the scooter wonât fit in the prospective car, scratch it off the list
If the seat is uncomfortable for you in ANY way on an extended test drive . . . maybe even rent the prospective car for a long weekend . . . then also scratch it off the list
The Versa has up to 15 cubic feet of trunk space, enough to accommodate a motorized scooter without any modification. Also, the Versa has 60/40-split fold-down rear seatbacks for extra cargo room.
The Nissan versa looks small but is pretty specious from the inside.
The Honda fit is even better. The Fit has 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up, and 52.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
My friend is in love with his Versa, and like OP, he doesnât drive far, so the CVT transmission doesnât concern him.
I would be more worried about being hit in the back of the head by a loose scooter in the back area not secured in a wreck more then moving the seat back a couple of inches, I would do as someone suggested earlier and get a small tow hitch from U-Haul and a scooter holder thingy for the scooter to be strapped to on the back of whatever vehicle, but that might just be meâŠ
Great point. Iâll definitely pass on this to my friend and make note of it myself.
