why would clutch fluid leak from trany housing
Because the slave cylinder for the clutch hydraulics is mounted to the tranny housing.

how do i stop the leak? what is involved in the repair? do you know any web sites that are like a mechanics book?
You can register on autozone. They have repair guides available online. But you should be able to find the slave cylinder easily and see if that’s the leak. That and the line are all pretty much all of they hydraulics for the clutch.
